Transmission whine/ Found the issue I think/UPDATE
What a week it has been. First, my computer crashes,(finally got it back up) and Tuesday, I got a CEL, which went away the next day. Yesterday, my transmission started making this whining noise. First start up, its quiet, then after it warms up, it will whine at idle in Park. All gears whine. Fluid is slightly brown. Gonna take it in maybe Monday for a flush. Anything else I could do? Wish for a new tranny to plop onto my doorstep? My neighbor works at the local GM shop, and says he will try to bring his scanner over today to look at those codes.
Now, when it shifts, it seems to hesitate between gears. Just ever so slightly.

Call me crazy...but are you sure it'* your tranny whinning? At this point you don't know if the code is related to the transmission.
The whine could very well be from a pulley on an accessory. Or, it could be the power steering pump.

I'm an idiot. I misread the dipstick this morning, and thought the shady area on the stick meant it was at the proper level. (some say not to add until bottom of shady area). So, I dumped half a quart of new fluid in it and started it up. The whine immediately went away. Still gonna get the tranny serviced and have that code looked at.

Sounds like the trans was low and the pump was cavitating... Have the service performed, and also have the drop the pan and replace the filter... Good Luck

OK, I JUST went back out to tinker with the car. Started it back up and changed gears a couple of times, whine/grinding noise came back. Took it around the block a few times, grind changed into a whine then the transmission started slipping. At slow speeds it feels like it trys changing gears.(while slipping). If anyone wants. I can go back out take a video of it and post it to my website for those that need true audio/visual.

Start the car, run through the gears... Hold each gear for 2 seconds then place the trans in Park, with the car idling pull the dipstick out and wipe it off, insert the dip stick and read the level, it should be in the middle of the crosshatched area...
It alsmost sounds as if the fluid is low and begins to cavitate or Blend the fluid with a lot of air bubbles...
If its low add more fluid untill you get to the center of the cross hatched area, once you are there run through the gears again and recheck the level...
