TRANS QUESTION
OK GUYS I HAVE 95 BONNEVILLE
THE TRANS WENT OUT. SO I HAD A 93 BONNEVILLE
TRANS THAT I PUT IN THE 95. WHEN IT WAS RUNNING
THE ALT WAS NOT CHARGING AND THE TEMP WAS NOT READING PROPER
TO THE SNAP ON SCANER SO I STARTED TO UNPULG THE TRANS HARNESSES
ONE BY ONE AND FOUND THE PLUG ABOVE THE VACUUM CAN ON THE TRANS
BY UNPLUGING IT THE CHARGING SYSTEM WAS FINE AND THE TEMP WAS
READING FINE . DO I NEED TO HAVE THE COMPUTER REFLASHED.
OR DOES THE TRANS HAVE TO COME OUT AND HAVE THE 95 TRANS REBUILT.
THANKS, JAY

Welcome to the Forum..
First typing in caps is like yelling...
Next, if you use a 93 Trans the wiring pin out for the trans is different and the 1995 uses a Temp sensor in the trans as opposed to a temp switch in the 93.... So there are some differences that may be causing your issues..
You'll need to find the wiring schematics for both the 93 and 95 to see the differences

Sorry about the caps
i found out the 2 wires for the temp on the trans
and cut them and puy a resistor between to read the trans temp
at 195 at all times but it has no 1st gear or overdrive.starts off in 2nd gear

I believe that the pinouts for the Power and Solenoid control are different between the 93 and 95..
Looking at the ATSG 4T60-E rebuild manual... There are sure some differences that will cause the trans to not function.. You absolutely do need the schematics

hope to work on it friday nite. would do it tonite
but i think the wife would be mad. I'll let you guys know
if i change the wires around if it works.
thanks

well worked on it last nite
got 1st gear and overdrive
but it only stays in overdrive
for 5 seconds and kicks out
out comes the 93 trans and sending
the 95 to get rebuilt.

Wrong way around Wren....he'* got a 1995....he put in a 1993 trans.
Ok, here is the thing (and I am going on memory, so don't hold anything I say as gospel, but rather as guide). Most of the solenoid pinouts changed for model year 1994, and the addition of the trans temp sensor. The 1993 trans you put in would only have a temp switch, not a sender....and only if it had traction control. You putting in a resistor where the sender *should* be is throwing off the PCM, as it expects to see a variance in temp, and not a constant. And from your description of the way it goes in and out of overdrive, I bet you that resistor you put in corresponds to the resistance given when the trans is running hot.
Another question....what gear ratio is that 93 trans? Is it the same ratio as what you put in?
You will find that 1993 trans to be a pain in your side until you either properly modify the transmission internal wiring to match the 1995 trans, or rearrange the pinouts externally and add a sender to the circuit. Either proposition requires work and patience.
