Theoretical cruise control situation
Is it possible, assuming some of the wires leading out of the cruise control module became frayed and exposed, that the acceleration wire could be shorted and could always receive a high signal even if you didnt touch it on the multifunction lever and even if you pushed the brake?

I suppose it could be possible, can't say for sure though. I'd have to research it in more detail. Be a good one for mythbusters for sure.

A supose it possible ,after rewiring from the turn signal on my car at least on my car if any single wire was in open cicuit (which is differnet from shorting) it wouldn't work.I know this because I rewiried and play with to get the connection right on mine it was either they all right or would work at all. At least that is way it woked in my car. Knowing that curise control might be able to tell if the voltage or in acceptable limits. I would have to say I doubt it,but wouldn't bet money on that theory

When I went to the track last year one of the GP guys had a problem when he ran and the cruse was stuck so when he hit the brakes the engine fought it. When he put it in neutral if free reved till he cut the the power and restarted.
I have also talked with some one that was in the shop with there F150 that had the same problem that the brakes would not turn it off.
So yes It is possible and has happened.

when i bought my mercedes, i was cruising down the expressway using CC. well when i hit the brakes it wouldnt shut off. no matter how hard i pressed the brakes, the engine tried harder to get back up to 80mph. until i shut the engine off. it turned out the brake switch failed, so the CC didnt know i was pressing the brake...

It'* possible as almost anything is...
Please tell us what symptoms you have. It could be a bound up throttle cable, grabby floor mat, or a dirty TB condition, if the vehicle is fighting you.

Yes Andrew, I read what he wrote and I responded as I saw appropriate.
Most people post a "theoretical" item in hopes that they can find a fix for an actual problem. Therefore if there is an actual problem here, I am asking for the symptoms and mentioning other possible causes of a surge/stuck accelerator type issue.
