im thinking the same thing. i thought all 96-99 were the same. i know for a fact the 92-95 se and ssei are different.

Sorry, I forgot to post my results on this.
I received my e-bay purchased tail light last Friday and it looks and fits perfectly. (Wow, and talk about an easy install..)
