Well, engine is completely stripped down to the block.
Now I have to run to Autozone and order the new kit, and clean everything.

So I gotta ask
Why not just buy a low mileage used motor ?
Spinning a rod the bearing is toast, the crank is toast , (or at least needs to be turned) if it vibrated enough the main bearings might be bad. If you have a micrometer you can check them. With all this work, you might be better off to replace. Obviously you have torn the motor down so you might have a decent place and tools to do this.

How can I know that the next engine won't be a lemon? If I'm going to go that far, I might as well buy a brand new one.

No not yet. My daughter had her 1 year check up at the docs office and I didn't get a chance to hit Autozone prior to 2PM. Hafta wait until tommorow. Then they should be in Thursday. Most of everything I need, needs to be ordered. One thing I can't find is the gasket that sits behind a plate on the back end of the engine. ??
Exactly! I enjoy doing my own work. Even if I screw it up, at least I have myself to blame and no one else. Plus we all learn from our own mistakes.
Not to mention the absolute satisfaction of knowing exactly whats under the covers and hearing it purr when you twist the key.
