Mike, are you doing all this with the block still in the car? If so, I didnt know it was possible to get all that out with it still installed

How bad was the noise that led you to tear it down?

Yep, block is still in the car. Looks like I may have to pull it to get the crank out.

Noise? I'm use to valve noise early mornings, but prior to shutting the engine off last night, I opened the door and heard this gut wrenching noise. First thing I did was pull the accsry belt off and restart it.

How many miles on this motor?
186000 miles.

Autozone and Napa both carry the crank kits for less than $300 each. Not including core. But I can avoid the core if I yank the crank out now.

Got the engine out today. That was fun. Broke my oil pressure sending unit right in half, broke the wire going to the knock sensor on the right bank. Connector got hung up on the trans. Oh well, off to order a new crank kit...
