Sometimes want Start right!
Hi,
since a few days i have the problem that my 93 SSEi sometimes want start right.
if i turn the key the car starts and shuts off immediatly. this game goes for about 5 minutes and then suddenly it starts and drives with no further problem.
the most time the car starts directly when i turn the key like it should... but like yesterday evening again it starts perfect at home, we drove to the supermarket, parked there and when we came back the car want start in over 10 tries.
it ever starts and shuts off... after a few minutes trying it finaly starts directly (no long cranking....) and runs fine till home... and yesterday morning the same game...
it doesn't matter if the engine is cold or warm or if it is outside cold or warm...
The Battery, Starter, All Sensor (incl MAF, Coolant Temp, etc) are brand new, also the plugs, the wires and coils, i got NO Error Codes and all Ground Bus are clean.
The Battery Cables are new and the Throttle Body is cleaned up, the injectors are new, the fuel filter is new and also the uim and lim. The Fuel Pressure is perfect and the ECM is also only a few month old.
When the car runs, it runs like new, everything is perfect i got a great gas mileage and it doesn't stall or something else....
but the thing with the bad starting sometime is very annoying...
i hope you guys can help me.
Thanks a lot
Manni

I'm wondering if you IAC is sticking closed. Next time it happens, try holding the throttle open just a tad bit. If it starts, you will have to feather the throttle to keep it idling. After a bit, it should run without intervention.

THANKS for your Replies!
So, i checked a few minutes ago the IAC and it is working fine (it'* also new, but i double checked now)
i can see in Diacom and TunerPro that it is working like it should.
Also today the car starts again perfect...
The Temperatur shown in Diacom and Tuner Pro had been the same on the Intake sensor and the Coolant Sensor.
The security light haven't done anything different from what it do when the car starts fine and i totaly forgot to say that the key is also new... (damn, this car is nearly new in everything lol maybe it'* only the body itself which is the original one...)
BUT, what i also forgot to say: i know this acting of my car, but only after i disconnected the Battery. since i have the car it ever does this when i disconnected the battery. Is this normal? how does your bonnes act when you unhooked the Battery for a short time. Like i said mine needs them a few tries and a few minutes and then it starts perfect...
BUT (again) i have not disconnected the battery in the past days and the battery is full and strong and the engine cranks realy fast and strong, not weak, so there is enough power to the whole system.
Any further ideas?
Thanks
Manni

Bill, not sure with the 93'*, but the 95'* won't let you crank if the security is the issue. 96 and up allows cranking, but no fuel.
If I recall correctly, everytime you disconnect the battery, the PCM needs to go through a "re-learn" mode, and this may include it learning the IAC counts.

Could be a fuel pressure regulator. Just replaced mine had similar symptoms. The car would cut off after you started it but usually started with one or two cranks. Pulled the vacuum line that leads to FPR and gas poured out. Replaced and it seems fine for now.
