o.k so far i changed the rear drivers side strut but not the spring as i could not figure out how to get it off..... so i put the new strut on the drivers side rear and put the tire back on and it was sitting nice and high... i could stick 4 fingers inbetween the tire and the wheel well on both sides even tho i only put one strut on so far.. so i took it out for atest drive in all the same spots i know it would hit and it is 99.9 % better... it only hit once and that was when i went up an incline kinda fast.. (25-0 mph ).. so when i got back home now i can barely stick 3 fingers inbetween the tire and wheel well on the drivers side and i can now barely fit 4 finbgers inbetween on the passanger side....?

is this normal.? or are the springs in bad need of changing also.. i have them but cant figure out how to get them off to put on the new ones... well right now i will be going back into the garage to do the passanger side rear strut..anyhelp with my question above would be greatly appericated..

and i also noticed i have a bad hub assembly on the rear drivers side as when i spin the tire while the rear is lifted off the ground the one drivers side tire gets stuck when i spin it with my hand and i have to nudge it to keep it spinning freely..? is this a bad hub.. and the reason i had a wobble while braking.?

also while laying down in the rear of the car and looking under it i can notice the rear drivers side control arm looks like it is sitting lower then the rear passenger side..? what could that be.....?

When I witness that with spinning the tire(wheel) I suspect an out of round tire 1st or 2nd, a bent rim. Since your rims are new, I would suspect the tire. I would think a bad hub or bearing would be when you have it off the ground, you can jiggle the wheel and get play.

Did you get a chance to make that measurement to see if your spacing is the same on both sides (in and out)?

i dont know much about the struts & springs but, the rear wheel not spinning freely could be the drum brake are too tight. I'd look at that before paying for a new hub. Just pop the drum off and adjust the pads a notch or two inward and see if it makes a difference, if not you can put the pad back in their original position or just remember to hit the brakes hard in reverse next time you drive it and the pads should go right back to where they need to be.

My bad. I thought he was talking about the tire intermittently touching (ground) and catching. Good eye. Yes, I agree on the brake drum. If it catches only slightly, I have seen that frequently with age on the last brake job. If it catches real bad, you could fix it by having the drum turned to match the shoes. But, this is a different problem from your tire rub.

nah i did not get to measure the insides yet.. and i was also told that my e-brake may be to tight and thus the reason for the wobble when i drive ( rubbing hub ).

also i still have not found a spring compressor to change the rear springs...

so i think i'll just have to go ahead and buy it form autozone for $95 and then have to return it.

how to i take off the the drum.? to check the rear brakes..?

I believe there may be a major safety issue or two, that is if yours is the same setup as my 93. I will see if I can scan a couple pix and send to you. Does yours have the coil-over struts/shocks? or are the springs those big standalone coil jobbers?

The drums just slide off, they shouldn't be real easy to slide off but it should take a good grip to get 'em, but if the pads are tight you'll want a rubber mallet for persuasion

in the rear the springs stand alone on the side of the strut.
