Slow reverse engagement?
My aunt has informed me that her '92 lesabre has been engaging reverse very slow when it'* cold. It'* got 188k miles on it and runs perfect. I believe it'* the original transmission. Other that that when it'* cold it shifts 110%, not a slip to it, and it doesn't engage drive slow only reverse. Any ideas? I think it'* just time for a fluid and filter change and a bottle of Lucas. What do you think?

If it'* the original fluid, there'* a lot of discussion about this, but my opinion is to not change it when it has that many miles. Introducing new friction material into the parts that haven't had them for years may cause more damage than not. With 188K on a 4T60, I personally would just live with slow engagment in reverse.

OF course I am going to go the other way not say he point isn't vaild. I had 94 corsica that had the same problem it actual had two problem one the shift cable was out of adjustment the other was the it was the orignal fliud is most likely, it'* problem it didn't shift into drive. I changed the fulid and filter in it the tranny run like a champ. it had 230,000 on it at that time. On that car the filter was clugged not sure how. Was very worried when a saw it but figured what the H*** have the fliud I would try it anyway

Merely dropping the pan and performing a filter change with partial fluid is considered proper maintenance. This restores some of the lubrication in the fluid needed to keep parts moving properly.
If the trans is failing and the fluid is changed, it'* possible the fluid/filter change will not help.
