Hm, I just watched the video of me tugging on the belt. You can't see it very well, but the tensioner is moving about 1/2 and inch when I tug on the belt.

Those cracks in the rubber near the rim, that is what you are looking for. It'* on it'* way to major clatter town.

I c, so that is bad then... I thought the harmonic balancer was metal? Or is it rubber on the rim area?

When I said tug on the belt, I meant try to make the belt move along its path. Sorry if I didn't say that clear enough. Yours isn't far enough gone for that trick to work noticably, though.

Yup. It'* starting to seperate. Now have Mom pull on one of the belts from above, and watch the OUTER ring with the belt grooves move, while the inner ring (bolted to the crank) stays stationary. Yours is in 'early fail' mode. Probably JUST enough to make that noise, but it'* hard to say for certain without playing with it more.

You're looking at the rubber seperation/cracks as it comes away from the outer piece, near the bottom of the balancer in both of those pics. As it gets worse, it'll sound like both of mine did (which you had the distinct pleasure of experiencing).

You remember what we went through to change the 95, right? Not too bad, but the 93 was tougher.

My offer still stands, I just have to sort my schedule and negotiate with you for a Saturday.

K, so, do you think it'* the HB or the tensioner that is making the racket?
