How long do you leave the hi speed on for :?:
When I kick the high speed on at idle, I can feel the engine speed drop for a sec due to the high amp load. Low speed is not noticeable.
Do you run with the A/C on all the time, with your much higher outside temps. :?:
I don't notice the high speed making an engine load difference. The AC does slightly, but the high-speed fans don't. My 160amp DP alternator may be why.

Both my fans come on. The high speed fan switch, is this just a relay that supplies the fan with a full 12 volts?
Also, i see that there are 160 degree thermo'* also. Is that too cold to run?
So is it normal for the car to run a full 20+ degrees cooler with the AC off?

2. Too cold unless you have a PCM chip programmed for it.
3. No, it'* not normal. Mine runs cooler in city traffic with the AC on because the fans are always on.

I have had the same problem with my 97. A 180* stat helped for the most part, but I am considering a tranny cooler, or a high speed manual switch. When I just sit there I get hot on the humid days, so I just turn the AC off until I get move'n again.

The AC actually helps, it turns on the high speed fan for 2 min bud! Don't turn it off.
With my DHP computer the high speed fans come on if the temp is higher than 185 F and stay on for 2 minutes after the engine is turned off.
With the higher temps now, I have adopted Will'* habit of leaving the high speed fans on all the time, after the coolant temp has reached about 170 F.
Now the temps never go over 180 F unless I really get into a performance run and even then it never goes over 190 F.

i have the stock 195 t-stat and an extra tranny cooler, the tranny cooler made a big difference but I still run about 200-205 on the highway. Rarely will I go over 210 even after performance runs. This is with the AC on almost all the time. its better to have your AC on than the windows down when on the highway. when I am in town I usually put the windows down and turn off the AC, just let it blow air in, that probably helps keep the temps down in the stop and go.
The tranny cooler helped alot to keep me regular.
