Ummmm.....I need a front radiator core support for my 93 SSEi.
Don't ask. Might also need the bracket for the front airbag sensor.

It'* cheap through gmpartsdirect, but I figured someone must have one laying around. Sounds to me like you know your stuff. That core shouldn't be too bad for you, but should take most of a weekend. When the blower motor goes out, you'll be pleased with the ease, but not with that core.

Is the core support spot welded in?

For what it'* worth...

The heater core went out on my 99 back in May. I took it to a shop and they only charged $300. You might want to call around to see what shops charge. Don't forget, your time is worth something!

haven't done a core on an h body before, but I know the crap I went through on a 92 cougar i once owned. took a *very* long time to get it done. i don't think the h body would be as bad though. the worst part about the cougar was that there was literally 2 inches of clearance between the engine and where you had to get the lines off of the heater core from. it was nasty. very very nasty. a few hours of the job was trying to get those dumb lines back on. made sense in the factory, doing it that way - when there'* no *engine* there...

will prolly take the better part of a day (day, not afternoon), but it'* fun, and it'* worth it. in my opnion anyways...

Remember when I said I have ALL the books? I have all the part numbers from 82-2002. I need the vertical bracket that runs in front of the radiator, supports the trans cooler and SIR bracket, and meets the latch point. Vertical metal. I'll just order new unless someone has one laying around.

The job can be done in a few hours, just a pain to reach some parts.

You probably could get an aftermarket from Autozone also with a Lifetime Warranty .

Got the heater core installed this morning and everything went well! The job was pretty easy compared to some I've done. Took a total of about 2 hours. Only thing I had to remove to acess the area was the glove box and the cover below the dash. Used my cordless for the screws.

The biggest problem was removing the hose clamps next to the firewall. I used a small prybar and lots of WD-40, to move the clamp ears to the 12 o clock position, then used some long handled needle nose pliers to spread the clamps. then the hose were split with a utility knife and removed.

What a great post! RMac - brilliant job on the heater core technique. And Randy - great pix! I busted my butt on a '97 SSEi replacing the air mix actuator. I suspected there must be an easier way, just wasn't smart enough to figure it out. This is gonna save a lot of people a lot of time.
