Hmmm. So I solved the rough idle problem...kinda. I got rid of the constant rough idle, now its just intermittent. Every once in a while, I will go to start it, and it will just crank, but when I let go, it wont just stop, it'll semi-catch and sit there and go stupid and idle at me roughly at about 450 rpms and then FINALLY jump to 1000, then almost immediately it will start LOPING heavily MOVING the whole car, up, and down, kinda like bill'* car was doing after he did the 180* flywheel mod Seriously moving it up and down about 1 inch. then it'll level out. when i rev it just a bit...it runs perfectly, SUPER glass smooth, and sounds excellent.

How old are the plug wires and what is the fuel pressure?

Next time it does that, unplug the MAF. My SSEi does that same thing when cold with the MAF plugged in. Cold condition, MAF unplugged, startup...idles butter smooth.

I'm betting Wrens toasted motor you have a bad MAF.

Brad... Weak fuel pump or leaking back can exhibit the same symptoms.

AHH. Well I don't think its the pump...but I do think its the filter...which is getting changed today. Also. The MAF. Wouldn't that throw a code? Sure does on the 89. What on earth makes you think the MAF is bad? :?

ahh. well got out there and changed the fuel filter...definitely easier than it would have been dealing with the rusted fittings of an 87-91 gen, but no cakewalk. Apparently the purolator fuel filter I got is just slightly larger than a delco filter in circumference. the bracket just wouldnt fit all the way around it. if i put one side in the hole, the bolt wouldnt go in on the other so I just bolted it...its tight enough so that there'll be no problems otherwise. In other news , the PS cooler has to be removed to be able to deal with the filter with sanity intact, but when putting it back, I noticed it won't tighten in the least...some idiot stripped it. so I got it in...but its wobbly...so i'll just add some wire to support it a little better in case of an accident such as road debris hitting it, it wont rip out my PS cooling lines.

Boy I tell yah though, those quick disconnect jobbers are SO much easier to deal with than those old funky *** metal lines they used to use. I love it

Its getting dark already, so I decided to do the transmission tomorrow when its cooler and when its brighter out. I've been running Seafoam trans tune in it now for the past 130 miles. The shifts have already gotten better. Now just time to give it new fluid.

Your PS cooler shouldn't be anywhere near that filter. Doesn't make sense to me.

Am I completely nuts? That finned cooler has lines going from to both the PS pump and the steering rack.

That'* really weird. I was just under my car a week or two ago, and I don't recall having one of those coolers, at least not there. It IS a power steering cooler, and I've seen them before. Sure does look like it belongs there, too.

Now I just wonder where mine is, or why it'* missing. :?

Maybe mine is early production 93? Maybe they didn't do it after 93?

I'm very curious otherwise why bill said they shouldn't be anywhere in the same area. I'd love to shed some light on this!
