It was a used one from a wreckers, with the exact same part number. I have not tried cleaning the replacment one yet but it didn't look that bad.... And i havent tested for leaks what is the easiiest way to test for leaks?

Let'* step back a minute..
What are you driving..year and model please.
From there we'll know better what you have happening..and if you could mention what the code means would also be great.
Depending..this could be a bad ground, bad +5V, dirty sensor, dirty air filter... there are so many things when we are unsure of which year/model we are working with.

Did you gently clean the JY MAF wire before putting in on? It could be dirty and althought the hesitation is not as bad, may still be throwing the code. If you go back to clean the wire, be VERY gentle.

how many miles were on the JY pull? I always thought MAF issues cleared up a bit when at full temp. Fuel mileage drop? What did you use to clean it? Is the filter a K&N or other similar type of filter that uses oil?
Just trying to have all of the information.... sorry if it seems nagging/redundant.
Does your scanner have the ability to monitor MAF voltages?
