My guess is no, since most cases with bad sending units have caused drops in preassrure, not higher preassure. There is still a chance that it could be it though. It'* easy enough to swap. Might be worth a shot.

my pressure randomly drops. i changed the sending unit and the problem persists so i did a complete oil change with new filter change.. and still it randomly drops..the car drives fine until the gauge drops suddenly n the car automatically turns itself off. so we checked the oil pressure and its at a full 60psi so doing good there...the gauge drops still ... so im going to test the sending unit i just bought and if thats not it then i bought a pigtail for the wiring connection that plugs INTO the sending unit.. THENNNNNN maybe thatll fix it....

u should check ur oil pressure and if it reads normal psi (resistance) then u know its something with the gauge itself or it would be the sending unit...
