Default Oil level sensor

Well, here we go again.........since fixing the intake leak issue a couple of weeks back, there has been no coolant loss..........this is a good thing !! Now the oil decides it needs a little of my time.....for the first 3-5 seconds after starting the car everything is fine, then the check oil level light comes on and stays on for about 10-20 seconds then goes off. The oil level is fine so I ASSUME it is a sensor reading from somewhere. Any ideas which one and where????? Thanks.......

I can't answer that, but I do have the same problem. The oil gauge goes down when I idle at lights and stuff. Then the car beeps at me to Check Gauges. Then when I hit the gas a bit, it will go back up to normal. I think it could be a bad signal.

Let me clear this up to avoid confusion, my oil pressure flunctuates a little thru out everyday driving, but I am talking about the area on the dashboard with the car diagram, it will light up "check oil level" only after you first start the motor and it runs for about 5-10 seconds and then it lights and runs for an allotted time and then go off :? . Is there a sensor the the pan that actually checks the level???

Yes there is an oil level check sensor in the oil pan similar to a brake fluid or washer fluid sensor.

If it only does it right when you start up the car it might be going through a self check with the computer. Strange that it would start doing it so randomly though. Go look around and make sure you did not knock any wires lose when you fixed the intake leak there might be a bad connection some where.
