New here, have a couple of quick questions...
Hey guys, like the title says this is my 1st post and I'd like to say that this a really great forum! Anyway I have a 94' se which is mechanically decent but tents to choke up when im braking and have less than 1/2 a tank of gass. I took to a couple of mechanics who told me the fix was gonna probably be more than the car is worth so i decided not to have them look at it. Has anyone been through any similar situations? The car pulls fine when its got a full tank, and I think high humidity seems to aggravate the problem. Also somone told me it could be becaue of th EGR valve and that i should probably just have it replaced or ever removed.
Also my interior has fallen appart over the years and I've been looking around for a junked car to take parts out of but so far have been unsuccesfull. I live in the NYC area, does anyone know where to look? And will newer pieces such as seats from a 98 - 99 fit?
Thanks alot in advance guys!

Parts for the interior from 92-99 were nearly all the same. Slight changes are nothing to worry about, it all bolts up unless you are talking the actual shifter mechanism for the console. Those changed. Most of the changes were so small, there'* no reason to go into them.
NYC huh? you aren't more than a couple hours. Holler on the parts you need...I have most of the small stuff hanging around. Larger stuff we could arrange something.
On to the mechanical issues. It'* tough to say with your description what it might be.
92/early 93 were known for poor baffling in the gas tanks causing stalling on hills and corners.
An old/clogged fuel filter could be an issue
Plugs and wires
Poor battery connections
Any check engine lights on ?
Please list out what you know about the car for maintenance that has been done recently.

Welcome to Bonneville Club. Because the "choking" happens only with low gas and braking, I would guess it is fuel related, specifically a plugged fuel pump strainer or a weak fuel pump. Some years (?) had trouble with fuel tank baffles and strainers but I think they were earlier than yours. Others will help.

Hey Bill(*) , thanks for the info so far!
My check engine light is off, new plugs and wires were put in 20,000 miles ago (less than 1 year), the fuel filter was changed too. Battery connections seems fine. Is there anything along the brake system that could cause such problems?
As far as interstuff goes, I need a headliner (gray), driver and front passenger door covers, and i was thinking of going with the 9 way adjustable leather seats from the ssei, but I have a column shifter so i dunno how that would work out. I dont think this car is gonna last me more than a year so I dont want to invest myself too much into it, but at the same time it would be nice to not see bare metal everytime i look up in my car.

How about when you go around a corner hard? My 93 gave me problems like that and it was really bad with less than 1/4 tank. Less that 1/4 tank and I had to brake slowly at a stop sign to keep it from dying. The 93 has a plastic baffle that cracks and allows the reservior around the fuel pickup to drain and prevents it from refilling fast enough. Between that and a miserably clogged fuel strainer it just couldn't get any fuel when the tank was low. I don't know if you have the baffle, but the fuel strainer would be highly suspect.

And if you have someplace to do it. Not terribly complicated, but it'* going to take a few hours. Call me Captain Obvious, but if you decide to take this on don't top off your tank before doing this - siphon or run it low before crushing yourself under a loaded gas tank.
