My engine locked up!!!
Well I am now the proud owner of a brand new engine in my 1998 sle after only 58,000 miles on the original engine. I am posting this so I might save someone the cost of repairs I had. Now on to the story,,,,
It was a bright sunny day and I was returning from the supermarket and was 2 blocks from my house when cough, cough, sputter, sputter, rough, rough, rough sounding engine problems. WTF I thought to myself. No loud banging noises, still running just rough. Hmmmm no engine light on, no oil light on, temp fine, oil pres fine, everything fine according to gauges. I got home turned it off and unloaded groceries. Oh yeah, right about now I should mention I had just brought the wife and 2 day old son home from hospital!!! I go back outside and turn the key. Click, Click, Click. Oh crap, thats not good. Now I dont know a lot about cars except for the basics, but I knew this wasn't good. I called a buddy up that works on cars and knows quite a bit, he told me sure I will be right over and check it out. He brings a big socket and a wrench puts on crank and trys to turn. No mas, No mas. Sorry dude your engine it locked up. WHAT!!!!!!, no way man its only got 58,000 miles on it, I have changed the oil religiously with mobile 1 the whole time I've owned it, it can't be locked up. He leaves and I get it towed to a mechanic. They confirm what he says, its locked up. Long story short , he ordered a new engine for 2400 and total cost was 3900. Plus 295 for a new upper intake. Watch that upper intake I had no WARNING>

Your upper intake may have hydro-locked a cylinder and stopped the engine, pull all the plugs and see if it spins over, if so it'* ok. Upper Plenum!!!!!!!!!!

Join the club. Same thing happened to my '95, came home for lunch, went back outside to leave, started it click click, engine had seized.
Fully rebuilt engine and new cylinder heads (which had cracked) about $3,000 CDN.
