Ya, me too. I've had 4 or 5 cars that use DexCool and none have ever "evaporated" coolant. IMO, if you're loosing coolant, it'* worth investigating the root cause.

I've had Sapphire just a little over a year and haven't had to add any water or coolant since I've had her.

Well I know why I been losing a little coolant lately.

Its getting out around the bolt. No big deal?

On a serious note.. That looks like the paper gasket is leaking. If you haven't replaced the thermostat recently, I'd pick up a new one as long as you are there and ensure you get both gaskets, rubber and paper. The paper one seems to be your problem.

Tip for fixing that...use a small diameter tubing like vacuum or washer line and slide it into the radiator to siphon off about a 1/2 gallon... That'* enough to change the t stat w/o draiding the whole system.

The rubber is actually a seal that fits around the rim of the thermostat.


Comfy, I wouldn't say this is a BIG deal. But definitely take the time to correct it. It'* an easy fix.

The bolts are original

The gasket, coolant,Tstat, hoses and o-ring are all brand new.

Man I thought I woudlnt have to deal coolant thing for another few years or ever again with this car. Not my favorite project.
