John..do those have a bulge on the end that sits against the rim?
I originally got a set like that but no bulge and tough to deal with on the rims I have because they are recessed a bit.

The look kinda like this
Tapered on the wheel side, little cap on the outside.
They're lug nuts, for cripes sake. What are they supposed to look like???

Ok..those are the ones I thought they were.
Some lugs look like yours and have the taper. Others have a bulge at the tapered end. This allows you to put the lug into a deep socket and put them on the studs easily. Most people wouldn't mind either way..but my rims have a recessed area and you need the socket to start the lugs.

I just put mine in the lug wrench, hold 'em against the lug, slowly spin them backawards til I feel the threads engage, an spin 'em on. They are much deeper than any socket or lug wrench I've ever owned (excpet the POS that comes with the car).
