Thanks Venom I will be sure to get my coolant flushed, because I would rather be safe than sorry. Hey I have nothing against a dinosaur, I learn the most from them.

thats a big nono, i got a 96 bonne SE and its written 10w30 on the oil cap (valve cover) , i use either 10w40 in winter season, & 15w40 during the summer, doesnt ding anymore but at least the oil thick enough during the hot days.

Could this be because He did not empty the reservior and clean it?? i have seen that before and thats what it looks like he didnt do? i pop the cap on the radiator and it looks like this
i think the green stuff is the regular coolant most cars use, the orange (yellow?) coolant is dexcool (aka gasket eater) i guess it can handle hotter temperatures. Thats what i was told.

Let'* reference this thread for my feelings and comments.

https://www.gmforum.com/t281061/

It'* much easier than me typing the whole thing again. Short response though is don't ever trust a dash gauge. If you are wondering what the oil pressure is, please have it checked with a mechanical gauge.

Coolant: if you are using 48oz of coolant every 1k or even 3K miles, please..find the leak. You shouldn't have any significant level drops over a year. A little down a little up depending on weather and temps is normal. A constant drop...you gotta leak to find.

The car runs fine! Also i would like to note, The U.I.M. was just done. Along with all the vacuum lines, before i bought it. it also has a slight oil leak. im not sure where it is, i plan on adding some die to and buying a black light. also i average 27mpg

I love this car. It is one of the best cars i have ever bought. I know its a 1995, but this thing is ROCK SOLID and i would drive this car to cali if i had to. So long as this oil pressure problem is nothign serious.

Here is a picture of the car started. it is 96°F out side.

Here is the oil pressure as i accel

Here is the oil pressure when i come to a complete stop after running the car for 10-15 mins.
Hey all!

Ran across this thread while searching an oil pressure issue I am having with my 1995 Bonneville SSE that I picked up this past weekend. I got the car from my Father in law with 125,000 miles on her, he is the original owner and hadn't driven the car for a year or so. He says that there were no oil pressure issues prior to him parking the car. The oil was just changed and the car runs like a champ until the temp reaches 200. The oil pressure is constant while cruising or even driving through a neighborhood at low speeds. It'* once you come to a complete stop the oil pressure drops to the edge of the red. I have read a lot of possible issues, but haven't seen many solutions. I'd appreciate any help on this matter.

Thanks,
Steve

The oil fill cap says 5W-30 and that is what he said he is running in it. He got the oil changed right before handing the car over to me.
