One thing that contradicts Haro....

Since you have everything apart, now is the time to clean your throttle body. I would pick up gasket (costs about $7) and remove the throttle body from the SC. Remove all the sensors from the TB then clean it very well. I like to let the TB soak in a pan of gasoline then scrub gently with a soft brisle brush. You'll be amazed at how clean you can get it.

Then reinstall all the sensors and bolt it back onto the SC with the new TB gasket in place.

ok, true

but it doesn't have to be done at the same time as the LIM gaskets. The TB can come off whenever. you will lose a bit of coolant if you don't drain it though.

Yeah, I've already ordered the TB gasket and bought a bucket of carb cleaner complete with throttlebody-cleaning elves.
After reassembly, I'm going to do the vacuum lines as well. Isn't there a hidden one somewhere under the maxifuse box?

Almost forgot - what kind of compound/grit wheel would you recommend for removing old gasket from the head/LIM, TB/SC? I've got a couple of wire wheels, but I'm not sure if they'd be abrasive enough to remove stuck gasket, or just way too abrasive.

there is a hidden one that runs from the MAP to the side of the LIM under the SC snout. it doesnt really come close to the maxicover though. it runs right along the engine.

I use a die grinder and some 3M abrasive pads to remove that junk.

Die grinder? Naw, we're talking about the cordless drill of DOOM! I'm sure 3M makes something that will fit the chuck - thanks for pointing me in(at) the right direction(thing). Same fer the vacuum line info.
In a different direction - I was just out checking various hoses and belts for wear, as-well-as the pulleys.
Found play in both the idler and the two tensioner pulleys. I had planned on doing them anyway, because of reputation and noise - any special tools that you know of required for that job? ..and, despite my pledge to ape the pulley belts back on, I tried just moving them, and let me just say that they didn't design that to be so easy by hand. Am I expected by GM to be a genius with levers as well?
Lastly: Injector o-rings are bloody expensive from the dealer. My guess though, is that especially with a higher mileage vehicle, once you pull an injector, you'll want to replace the o-ring. From what I understand, there are 2 o-rings per injector. I've found them here and there, but does anyone have a part #? I gather that the Fel-Pro brand ones are good based on, well, willwren ordered some...but had the wrong product shipped et al., but joints like Rockauto have several several iterations of the o-rings - from size, to quantity, to color.
What gives, manG?
Where can I find the juicy o-rings?

no special tools for the pullies. you will need a wrench though, bare hands won't cut it

Get the injector o-rings from Kragen'* also. They should be around $1 each.

Get your o-rings from www.rockauto.com. You shouldn't pay more than about $8 shipped to your door.

Before you clean your throttle body make sure you remove all the sensors first. The solvents will kill the sensors very quickly. The sensors are secured with tamper-proof torx screws. Buy a set of tamper-proof torx bits if you don't already have one.

Yeah, you guys are pretty much awesome.

Vital - perhaps I'm looking at the wrong part - because the shipping alone to my place is over $8. I was eyeballing the "Fel-Pro # ES70599 w/MFI; 3 Req'd."- it looks like they come in a pack of 4, and I need 3 packs..
Assuming they aren't made from bubblegum, I'll probably just spend the $ at the local shop...who, by the way, when I asked for the Autolite 605'*, gave me Autolite 606'* - I repeated my request and broham told me that the 606'* were the direct replacement that I needed.
The Autolite page has zero information that I could find about heat ranges, or really anything beyond, "Our product is great. Buy it. Be happy."
Any thoughts?
