Dude, that is just bizzare. There are people on clubgp that have GTP'* with 150K+ on em running Nozz with stock internals and redlining 10 times a day.

The next problem is how do I get the crank rotated over so I an access all of the trq converter bolts to pull the engine. The con rod is jammed up above the crank and the cyl side wall??

Been there, done this. Pull the engine with the trans, then undo the trans from the engine when the drive train is out and both pans are sitting on an oiled board. Just pull 'em apart, the torque converter will stay with the engine, but with the trans gone, you can undo the TC bolts. It'* about the same or maybe just a little more work as pulling the engine alone. [edit: OK, it'* a lot more work, I should have said it'* about the same as pulling the TRANS alone!]

Well, you could drop the pan, and if you can unstick and remove enough of the broken stuff to turn the engine, you're good to go with just the engine.
[edit: maybe someone else knows a better way, but you have just a little bit of room to slide the engine to the passenger side with the trans mounted. You might be able to remove enough engine parts to sneak down from the top and sides to get the last two TC bolts after you have the engine free, on the hoist, and slid over as far from the trans as you can get it. But it is hard to imagine that you won't spend more effort than just pulling the engine with the trans.]
