L36 belt tensioner?
L36 belt tensioner?
Bigerik post made me go check to see where the pointer was on my tensioner.
http://www.bonnevilleclub.com/forum/...ic.php?t=60807
On the dark centerpiece I can see 3 marks close together and another mark about a ¼” away.
On my tensioner the pointer is pointing at the center of the 3 marks?
Any one have information on these tensioner marks?
I can not find any information about this in my service manual.

According to my FSM, you want it centered. The top mark is maximum tension and bottom is minimum.
If you've got a FSM, look at the on vehicle service section for the engine, and find the accessory drive belt picture. It'* got the markings there.

Thanks Arbelac
I went back through my manual and found one blerb about the tensioner marks.
“Bla bla bla. The indicator on the movable portion of the tensioner must be within the limits of the marks of the stationary portion of the tensioner. Any reading outside of these limits indicates either a defective belt or tensioner.”
They probably left out several pictures in my w-body manual because it covers 3 different motors.
Has any one measured the spring pressure on a good tensioner?
