knocking motor
Hi im new to the forum!!
I was wondering. I own a 1995 series ll 3.8 vin k bonneville. Recently she developed a knocking noise along with a tick, the engine is maintained well and on a regular basis. I replaced the lifters and that solved the tick, and i was told to check the harmonic balancer to solve the knock. Upon inspection the balancers rubber was discintegrated and wore, so i replaced. Upon starting the engine there was no sign of a knock, until engine warmed up slightly or ran for a few minutes, it seems as if the engine idled down, then started knocking and running badly, I am stumped and i was wondering if u guys may be able to help me. Also could a bad crank sensor or timing cause a knock, im uncertain. Finally the oil pressure is fine and engine runs very smoothly. please help!!
thanks

A crank sensor won't cause knock, and timing issues are extremely rare on these cars. Can you tell me if you've ever had the dreaded upper intake vinK problem?

I noticed coolent leak around upper intake awile back! I replaced gasket and there was no sign of cracking on the intake so i never replaced it, also there was no sign of coolent getting into oil.Oil pressure remains the same (good) when engine warms, and there is 250 000 km on engine. I suspect crank bearing now, not good i know, but if so i will be looking for a replacement motor or i gues id have to rip mine apart. I may even try switching to SC if i can find right wiring harness and computer and stuff. Well thats all for now, if u guys know where to get a used motor or have any more suggestions it would be a great help. Thank again!!!!!
