I'm gonna say that the code 17 is most likely either the cam or crank sensor. The cam sensor and crank sensor went bad on my parents old 1992 Buick Park Avenue Ultra and the car would stall. Replaced the cam and crank sensors and no more stalling or code 17.

I believe for the crank sensor you have to remove the harmonic balancer pulley, and for the cam sensor you have to remove the timing cover(?).
You might want to talk to Will or someone with a factory service manual for the appropriate year you are dealing with.
Good luck -that harmonic balancer is a joy to remove, and the cam sensor requires a few parts being removed -I forget what all this job entails.
