$2k is a little high.
With those pressures I'd say you're looking at lower end problems.
I just put a long block in a Camaro, but instead of buying the long block I bought a S10 with the same engine and swapped them. S10 = $150. Gaskets = $300. Way cheaper and I heard the engine run before I pulled it apart. Something to think about.

this is why you should get an GAS ENGINE OIL ANALYSIS, they can tell you if it is a cam or rocker arm or rod/main bearing.............

i (try) to do this every 50 to 75k, its only $22.50, you do the analysis or
DYSON ANALYSIS
Terry Dyson has more than 25 years of independent oil analysis interpretation and consultation work. At various points in his life, Terry has expanded his knowledge of oil and its properties by owning a fleet maintenance shop, participating in the ProSportsCar/IMSA Professional Road Racing Series across the United States, and serving as a hazardous waste and petroleum/lubricants officer for the US Army and Navy.
The Dyson Analysis package costs $60 and includes Blackstone'* Standard Analysis and a TBN, with Terry'* interpretation of the results. If you'd like a Dyson Analysis, please make a note of it on the slip when you send in the sample.

John..have you checked the price of a longblock at Napa/PartsAmerica/Autozone? I'd think they'd be reasonably priced with all the 3.8'* out there.

Low oil pressure and metal, I'm not gonna mess around with trying to fix it while my daily driver is down. I haven't checked with any local parts stores yet and their online listings don't seems to include them.

yard
I would check the local Salvage yards. Most 3800 are still running when they come in. Some are low mileage maintained vehicles that got rear ended. My yard quoted me $350 last year for a 70k motor.
