I agree Bill..
I don't care what the shadetree says, when you spin a bearing and leave even a hint of a mark on the crank journal or the Rod for that matter you need to have the crank turned down and have the rod that spun checked and possibly resized.. If you install another bearing you'll be pulling the motor apart again very soon...
Good Luck

Dang it guys, now you got me thinking. the more I pondered this the more I talked myself out of just putting it back together. i always blame it on my Jet engine building skills. We deal with tolerances to the .0001 all the time, and I constanly have this voice in my head saying "this isn't a jet engine" when I work on my cars. I even thought about taking the rods to work and putting a Mic on them to see if anything was amiss, and then putting a Mic on the jounals. Do you think that would solve my prblem? If I find anything out of limits than fork out the money and get it fixed right? I went to order my bearings and gasket sets and that was about $300. This car isn't worth much, especially in its current state, but I always figure a few hundred bucks into her means I won't have a car payment for months.
I'll let you all know what i find. Cross your fingers!
