The brake light has been coming on while driving for the last few days. It seems to be once I hit 25-30 mph and can stay on for up to 45 sec. Any ideas?

Your master cylinder is failing. At this point, I'd not drive the car for any reason. Check your master cylinder to see if it'* leaking fluid. The light and chime are 'deadly' warnings. Our experience with them says that you are in trouble.

Took a peek and it looks like it has been leaking but the apparent leaky fluid was not wet it was dried. Also the reservoir was low. So how do I proceed from here?

Replace the necessary parts to stop the leak. If it is the master cylinder or merely a seal on the top of the cap.
BTW..first time I read this..I thought.. actual brake lights on back of car.
