JR, my car has the factory style headers (or GM'* interpretation therof), but I don't know what Josh'* has. Considering they're the same year, and both have the fakie dual exhaust, I assume his is like mine. My car grumbles nice.....sounds like my boat idling on the street when I stand behind it. This improved a bit with the hi-flo cat. I need to stand behind Josh'* SSE and see if it sounds the same. The SC shouldn't make any difference in the exhaust noise at idle......as far as getting the grumble you want, I think you're gonna do better with a dual exhaust, so you're getting stereo! Big diff in my sound if I'm standing right between the tips or not.

Yup, it made a difference, even though the factory cat was pretty much a straight pipe by then. Sounded like a baby rattle at about 1000 to 1500 rpms. I think it ran about $150 installed, but I played it smart and went to a cheap repair place that does exhaust work. Hard to screw up a cat. I had quotes in the $250-$350 range from muffler shops. I can check to be sure, but I know it was under $200 installed. Here'* a quote from earlier:

" think the muffler you're thinking of is the Walker Turbomax. I've run two of 'em in the past, and they're a straight through design, or at least used to be. I haven't changed my muffler yet, but I did have to replace my cat. It'* an Autosound Hi-flow, and I noticed while it was being installed, that I don't have a Resonator, nor was there originally. Until my Cat, my exhaust was virgin from the factory. Drifter, what year is your Bonnie? Maybe they started using a resonator with the Series II?"

Mine was giving me little hints like yours is, then one day it was HELLO *******, I HAVE A PROBLEM! And I said, ok sweetie, I'll take care of it. It god bad FAST. Embarrassing, actually. Everyone thought my tranny was going out. As far as I know, anything light enough went right out thru the muff. No rattles, and I had the whole back end of my exhaust out on the ground Saturday, didn't hear anything. Get under there and kick the muff, preferable with bare feet while the car is still hot, and see if you can hear any presents from your cat.

Just hope you don't have any rattlers back as far as the muff.....and I just remembered, you have a 95.....series II and almost obd II, which means you have 2 O2 sensors. One of them, if memory serves me (in my old stinkin' fart days) is right after the Cat. Hope it didn't take a hit.

You probably remember, I just replaced my 02 sensor 2 weeks ago. Gained 2mpg back, and it didn't just fade away before that, it was ok, then lost a couple....from one tank to the next. It was either you or Drifter that talked me into the sensor. Good advice, fixed me right up. Another option for your Cat is to just straight pipe it, but the EPA may take issue with that.....but with the NA 3800, I don't know if you can rob that much back pressure from it without affecting low-end torque. I'd just go with the hi-flo.

A cane? Funny, I actually do. I had a bone graft a couple years ago from the hip....couldn't walk without a cane for almost 2 months. I use it to beat the kids now.

Just watch out for the other cat...

It would've been funny if you ran over a rice car.. but a cat did nothing wrong..

Default sound??

Sound is different to all of us, some like it loud, others quite. Me i like the sound of the cold air induction, stomp the loud pedal and Baby has a sound all her own, helps with the 3in exhst, and ractive tips on ultra-flow muffler
