High rpm miss
#12
Talking with Jr on the phone......a likely scenario is that my POS alternator was causing a weak spark and has fouled my plugs. Now the misfire is worse. I'm gonna change the plugs and alternator, and maybe the battery too. We'll see.

That'* not the least of it. Today as I was leaving for lunch, the repair I made to my power antenna failed, and my auto climate control set a fault and wouldn't let the AC compressor come on. Sweated through the drive to lunch with my lunch date cuz I couldn't remember which buttons to enter diagnostics.
After lunch (just now), I printed Fuddyduddy'* procedure and went out there. Code 48, long-term freon loss. Right. It was ice-cold yesterday. Just cleared the code and it works fine.

Well, I got the plugs changed, the alternator is on the way from Domestic Performance, and the battery is sitting on my front porch. My plugs did indicate an ignition problem. They were running rich. All 6 of them.
If the Alternator doesn't solve the problem, I can use ignition parts from Jseabert'* 93SSE for some more troubleshooting. Still no codes or PCM malfunctions present.
The good news is the miss is now about 700 rpm'* HIGHER with the new plugs. So they were fouled, and HOPEFULLY the new alternator will solve the rest.
Got a new antenna installed again, so the beast may be healthy again soon.

My original ICM is good. I swapped in Josh'* with all 3 coils (that'* how we got to CA last weekend), and the problem went MOSTLY away, but the Alt and battery solved the rest. It looks like I have multiple problems, though, cuz when I put my ICM and coils back in, the problem came back, but not as bad as before. Low voltage WAS a problem.
I just swapped Josh'* coils onto my ICM, and the problem is gone. I have a weak coil, and it gets worse when it gets hot.
What prices are out there for aftermarket coils? Will Series 2 coils work with my 93?
Here'* the poop:
1992 used a Delco OR a Magnavox ICM and coil. Ignore the magnavox for the time being.
93-99 ALL use the same ICM. Cast in stone.
Some 92 and ALL 93-95 (including the first year of the NA 95) use coil pn 10472401.
96-99 SC uses coil pn 10477602.
96-99 NA uses coil pn 10472401, just like the earlier years.
What'* the difference in between these coils?
