Default Help me with a couple of things here, please...

'92 SSE w/49,000 original miles.
Had the car for almost a week, now.
Couple/three things I need to know about:

1. The AM/FM selector button on the steering wheel, upper left, was taped on!
I can still push the 'stub' to change to AM/FM, and the little tiny nipple of a light bulb will come on if I wiggle it.
Can I get the button/cover replaced?

2. I found condensation on the back shelf where the 3rd brake light is, and in the taillight lenses.
I also found about an inch of water in the spare tire well.
There is a section of the rear window reveal moulding on the lower left of the rear windshield that is missing, but, I tried to trace the rainwater dripping down into the trunk with the lid open and that doesn't seem to be the actual leak.
WHERE is this water coming from?

3. I had the engine backfire under the hood a couple of times when starting it. Most of the time it starts no problem.
WHAT is causing that?

I'm pleased with the vehicle, really. I just need to know what I might have to look for in the way of particular problems with the year/model.
Let me know of anything or solutions to the problems above.
Thanks.

The steering wheel controls come as a complete set when you buy them. They are fairly easy to replace. You may have a hard time finding the single button at a junkyard.

I've got the button...and the tape!

Looks like part of the button is broken off on the backside. Part of one the press-in sections , there'* 3 of 'em, is still stuck in the hole. This is the one that switches the frequencies from AM-FM-FM. The other two holes are clear.

So, I get to purchase a whole set of buttons?? Great.

Time to get inventive with the tape, or glue, or silicone, or...

The GM part number for the switches (replacing both sides) is 16141452 for 1992. This is a different part number than 93-95, which will make it harder to salvage. The price at www.gmpartsdirect.com is $137.07, 50% off list.

The water is more than likely leaking through your rear window seal. This has been a common problem, and there was a TSB on this. If you can't find it on the net, your dealer should help you locate the TSB.

The backfire? Could be a number of things. Try checking for codes first. There'* a procedure up in Techinfo for doing this on the cars up to 1993.
