Capacitors DON'T reduce strain on the electrical system! The Amp is still sucking the same amount of power from the alternator/battery. They merely are a small pool of electricity. If your going into the red with that amp, your alternator is dying, or almost dead. It'* merely a patch. If you have a good power system, a Cap is there just to keep the big hits from dimming the lights IMO.

Both of you need new alternators, as Don said, Go AC delco, or go to the store a lot. I was able to get my 140amp beast for $12 more then the standard 105.

you could put a 1/2 farad on it, I have 2 400 ampswatt powering my inside speakers and a 25 farad cap, and have NO problems. you either need a new battery, alt. or a cap. with running only 300 watts you should have virtually no problems with dimming.
By the time I buy a 1/2 farad cap I would be 1/2 way to the cost of a new alt. and the cap (IMO) is a poor bandaid for a weak alt.

I am pretty positive it is the alt because when I first installed my subs nothing dimmed. Now almost everything dims when I turn it up.

I'm still trying to decide 140 or 160 amp.
