It'* very easy to replace. Took me and Bill 10 minutes tops the (final) time we changed mine. Air tools are PRICELESS with this job.

That pic is of a HB from a supercharged car...yours will of course have only one set of grooves.

Very true! When my HB went, Advance ordered the wrong part 3 times. Granted, 2 of those times they ordered an L27 HB, wrong engine. But then they ordered a 95 thinking it would work with my 94, and we slapped it on and I knew right away something wasn't right. Not balanced at all. I wondered what could be so different since the engines are the same in 94 and 95. But something was different alright.

When we finally got the right part, we looked at both to compare, and it was clear there were big differences in each, specifically the weights. The 95 was 3 times the size as the 94.

Very interesting, i remember before this shop replaced the harmonic bal. i paid 375.00 to another mechanic to replace it. the car went 100 miles before it went out, then i had my car towed to a shop where they put a new one on for 310. 00, im wondering now if it was a wrong part.

The actual part is around $100

Procedure to replace
Jack car.
Remove passenger tire
Remove splash guard plastic
Remove belt
Remove bolt from center of balancer
Pull either by hand or with puller (dependent on year)
Reverse procedure.

Shouldn't be more than 30 minutes for any qualified mechanic.

Keep in mind..

I have air tools, without..you may have to hold the flywheel as well.

yeaaaaa, im not really looking foward to it , but.. it has to be done, as of now im alittle afraid of driving it, as everytime i hit the gas, the sound is pretty unplessant. so it sits here until i get motivated enough to wrestle with it

It takes more to get motivated to do it..than the actual project itself.

Now hop to it.! Uh.. you aren't a hoppin.. C'mon..let'* go! ... um.. yeah.. you are still in front of the pc..

If you have any buddies with airtools..I'd suggest a quick trip to see them. A 6 pack and 30 min you'll be all set.

Without air tools you WILL have to hold the flywheel. There'* a small black plastic dustcover you need to remove, then jam a large tool (bar, huge screwdriver, etc) into the flywheel.

You'll likely need a very large breaker bar with a pipe extension to break it loose.

I've done both of mine in this manner.

For reassembly, you'll need to move the bar to prevent flywheel rotation in the opposite direction to make sure you got it tight.
