It may take some time for the car to learn that it has a new o2 sensor. Disconnect the battery for half an hour to reset the PCM and force it to learn all new values, including A/F mixture relative to the new o2 sensor.

Hi, I need to replace my (heated) O2 sensor on my 1998 bonneville. Is this the same one that is being described here in this thread? If so, where is it located, and is there more than one on my vehicle? It'* just the standard 3800 v6, not supercharged.
Thanks, Gary.
Thanks, Gary.

Gary...look down behind your engine and you'll see the front O2 sensor. Shown here with the purple and brown wires going into it.
There is a second O2 sensor behind your catalyitc converter that is used to "sniff" the exhaust. This is how your car knows the catalytic is working properly. The second sensor is not usually replaced as it does not affect mileage or engine performance.

I'm gonna shout it from the rooftop - if you need AC Delco parts, and you're doing mail order anyway, DO NOT go to gmpartsdirect.com. Go to either Dal at VanDevere Olds (lockitup@bright.net or 877-448-5451) or www.rmsautoparts.com. RMS is Paypal only, but I've gotten GREAT service from them. They cater to the b,f, and y-bodies, but will get ANYTHING AC Delco that you want. They are both priced as good or better than GM Parts Direct without the we're-on-crack shipping and handling charges!

GMPartsdirect.com is a very good alternative to the normal dealer costs.
Take this example
1997 SSEi O2 sensor.
Local dealer supply house $114
GMPD after shipping costs $80
I've never heard of Dal or rms before..
I have found it is worth a look around to compare all prices and not merely say to use one versus the other. Never know..one might have a special or be better priced, faster shipping. Lots of factors to consider.

He'* a GM parts guy legend...he knows a LOT of part numbers by heart. He also is up to date on what is going on with parts interchangability and knowing what parts should go with what. Just do a little google on Dal Slabaugh and see what you find!
Go ahead and compare total cost after shipping with either of the above places. Dal is in Ohio, and RMS is in Texas, so you can judge your shipping time accordingly. RMS has shipped the same day I've ordered, even when I order in the afternoon. Great service from both places that I can personally attest to.

I just spent a little time browsing RMS and will say that the parts availability and pricing seem to be better than GMPD on at least some of the stuff. Like said, they don't list the H-body, but if you already know your P/Ns, it'* pretty easy to find them there.
I noticed, for example that all their O2 sensors were $40 or under. Example, a 1-wire sensor #25162693 which I believe is for 92-92 Bonnies, is $26.95. I saw a number of multi-wire O2s for $35.95 - 39.95.
Also a lot of connectors, evap canistors for @ $40 IIRC, etc. Certainly worth checking out when looking for pieces parts IMO.
