Magnaflow sounds MUCH better IMO, but that'* different depending on who it is. Resonator tips will rust out much sooner than anything else, and won't be as effective. Your car should have had a resonator stock. Someone may have removed it. Can a Series 2 please shoot a pic of it?

how much will a resanator cost?
going back to stock isnt an option the stock muffler was getting really rusty and the guy who did my exhaust agreed that it didnt have much longer. michigan winter and salt do a good number on our car.
if u wanna hear mine i got some video posted but i dont like how it sound cuz it too loud thats why i wanna quiet it down a bit, at about 3000 rpm it does sound really nice.

Dude.. our exhausts are made of stainless steel, so I don't know where you got your muffler from.. but all our'* gets is surface rust. My exhaust is covered in surface rust, but it also is strong as can be.

I'd suggest leaving everything the way it is and throw a couple resonator tips on it. You'll get used to it eventually. If you still don't like it after a few months, you'll just have to chalk it up to experience. What model did you get again? There may be some options for more of a quiet sound, or you could be like myself and Bill and get a Magnaflow.
Just live with it for a while and see how you feel after a month or two.

If you want less interior resonance, check out the Deltaflow line from Flowmaster.... it would mean getting a whole new muffler again, but it'* an option. I still think you ought to try it out for a while before you change anything. Just my two cents' worth.
