LOTS.....to start you will need a series II transmission, you will need axles....you will need a PCM, you will need a ton of custom wiring work done to make it work.

They are both very close, the series II is slightly faster in the 1/4 mile stock..at least a second in stock form I'd think...well for a 92/93..the 94/95 are probably around 0.5 seconds slower on average than a series II.
You can MOD a Series II MUCH EASIER and the mods will be more predictable...well I should not say that..but a lot of people have put heavier duty mods in the GTP world....stuff has been tried 100s of times with the Series IIs where stuff like rockers on a series one are still in the first stages.

97 have more mod support from INTENSE and ZZP than 96 i believe.

I mean like.. to put the SII into the car... maybe make a conversion harness for OBD1-->obd2? We do it all the time in the Honda world, thats why i was wondering :P You can take an engine from a 2000 civic and put it in an 88 no problem.

Hans is pretty far off on his rape scene. S1 is no where near as fast as he'* claiming over an S2 if both are stock. I've owned both and did a closed road race from dead stop. It was basically equal, on the top end the S2 pulled the S1.
On modding from an S1 to an S2, you would need the engine bay wiring harness, pcm, engine and trans. After that...small parts to change things over would be needed....small though.

Stock 94/95 L67'* typically beat S2 L67'* by a SMALL margin at the track in our experience on this Forum.
92/93 L67'* are about a half-second slower on the 1/4.
Ask yourself if you want a stoplight racer or a 1/4 miler, or a freeway passer. Tell us what your answer is, we'll tell you which engine to get. But you need to swap the ENTIRE drivetrain including engine, trans, and axles, as well as the PCM and wiring harness.
