engine swap help
hi new to this forum ive seen a lot of the posts on the subject and am getting a bad feeling in the pit of the old gut....here goes i got a 96 bonneville se with a bad transmission, so i knew a guy who had a 94 with a blown motor....well the brainstorming genius i am i figure buy his have two make one, wanted to put my 96 3.8 in his 94 3.8 is this possible? im thing eistien gunna have some spaining to do to the wife why he got , now two non moving bonnevilles....shoulda stayed with the old chevys i guess thanks

I'm not 100% able to follow what you said. But.. you could put the transmission from the 94 into the 96 w/o issues. The 96 motor is different than the 94 though and the 94 doesn't have a good way to control the 96 motor.
It might be able to be done, dunno that anyone has done it yet. The easiest thing would be to toss the 94 trans into the 96 shell.

i was told the 94 transmission wouldnt work in the 96 because of computer problems, the 96 also used three different transmissions one for the super charger and one with a 2.84 gear ratio the other had 3.06, really id like the 94 to be the one to fix since it is in better shape
