Dies when going into drive
I am helping a friend with a problem with his 1999 Bonneville SE. His car has 49k miles. He was driving down the road in the country when all of a sudden his car just died. He put the car in park and started right up. He put the car into drive. Instantly the car just shutoff like the key was turned to the off position. All of the indicator lights came on and stayed that way. He went through this routine about 3 times after that the car started right up and ran. He drove about 5 miles down the road when the car died again (Just made it over the tracks when a train was comming) He decided to have it towed and called me to pick him up. Any ideas folks? The mechanic scanned the computer when I picked him up. There are no codes stored. Any ideas?

well this might sound stupid...but how much gas was in it? Other than that: Plugs, wires, overheating ICM, MAF sensor, bad ground for ICM.
The best thing to do in that situation is to go call around and find the cheapest mechanic estimate and post what is on here and we will tell you what to do and buy.
I was lucky enough that i had a bad MAF sensor on my car. But i had to troubleshoot all of that and more as well. Took about 2 weeks to since im working 40-60 hours a week during school on top of that.
