dashboard troubleshooting wiring schematic needed
Can anyone help me with a pinout of the dashboard connectors?
I have tried all the common remedies to get the DIS, fuel, temp, boost gauges to work consistently - cleaned both sides of battery connectors including grounds, reseated all dashboard connectors on individual boards, resoldered suspect joints
Oddly, the only thing that ever made it work (and then stop working again) was jacking the vehicle up to work on something unrelated. The first time the gauges ever came on after I bought the car, I had jacked the car up to drop the oil pan. The gauges worked for a few days until I jacked it up again to fix the leaking oil pan gasket. On and off again the same way when I jacked it up for a crank sensor replacement????
At this point, I don't even know what wires to the dashboard have the power and ground connections to see if it'* even the dashboard itself, any help on the schematics would be greatly appreciated!

Anyone have a '92 FSM to help out Mr. Squarepants?
BTW, have you checked the Ground Bus connectors for corrosion, under the carpet next to the front seats?

While you go after those ground busses, look a little further forward and up on the side. There will be a black wire or two, depending on what side you are on, screwed into the side of the footwell. Those are ground points for a few things, including the dash.

ground buss was clean but I haven't checked for the screwed in ground wires, I hope thats the culprit
I've got the dashboard in my lap right now hoping to trace the power and ground connections - wouldn't mind running an auxiliary ground wire directly to ground bus to make sure there is a good ground connection

Acquired a used dashboard yesterday from a parts yard, put it in, Walla......., dashboard problems over right? Jacked the car up to fix a slow leak in the front tire, lowered, dashboard out again?!?!?
The best I can get it sometimes the gauges/compass/DIS work when I turn key to run, but after I start the car, nothing - only spedo and tach working?
Any help out there with a wiring schematic?

Did you make sure you got those two big connectors back in all the way.
The one on the center of the pic and the lower right side.

While wiggling the smaller connector on the right side it did intermittently come to life, I'll look for cold solder joints - the clear epoxy coating increases the difficulty level a bit
