Cleaned the TB today!
WOW was that thing dirty!
I actually had to use a batery brush to get the carbon off the back of the butterfly and the back of the housing.
My concern is that there was a ton of black tar-like stuff all inside the opening of the Intake Manifold. How do I clean that stuff off? Or should I just get a new one and replace it and the LIM/UIM gaskets at the same time?
Oh and I could tell there is a big differance in throttle responce and it idles a bit better too.

No point touching the UIM to remove that gunk, unless of course your UIM has never been replaced. You know about the common failure of that part correct? How many miles are on the car?

Overall..You don't clean the upper manifold. Although being NA'd you could spray TB cleaner into the TB with the car running to clean some of it up. SC'd should not do this...
