Check Oil Level Light
Got my 92 Bonnie on 7-1-03. Took it on a test drive before I brought it and when I first started up the Check oil level light on the System Monitor stayed on for about 1 min then went out. The salesman said he would have it checked out. The day I picked up the car he said it was the "sending unit" and that it was replaced. Afew days ago I noticed it started staying on again. The oil level indicates Full. Am still waiting for the owners manual. It doesn,t do it everytime I start up, it is ramdon and the light will briefly illuninate for about 15-20 sec then go out. Just wondering if this was cause for concern and it anyone has experienced this problem. Thanks.

My '92 SSEi has done this since I bought it in '99.
In my case, I suspect that it'* the sending unit in the oil pan, but for me it'* not a high priority to replace because the oil level is full and the oil pressure is fine.
The error can occur when the car is parked on an incline/decline, but that'* not the cause in mine...
And by the way, my '92 SSE supercharged sometimes does this after an oil change.

Yea, I am still waiting for the owner'* manual. The day I took delivery of the car, before i drove it off the lot with the salesman there I visually inspected the oil quanity on the dipstick and it indicated full. The oil pressure appears to be normal. It normally stays around the 2nd hashmark past the 40mark so i am assuming anywhere from 80-100 psi.It did it briefly this morning on the first and only stayed on for about 3 secs. Has not come on anymore today. The car was purchased from a Nissan dealership so they may not have enough on the 3800 eng. If it presists I will take it to the Pontiac Dealership I done business with over the years.
