check engine light...arrg
'94 Bonneville SE 3.8
Trying to find if anyone else has the "check engine light" coming on all the time, but when taken into a GM dealer it always has a false code or other crap showing.
Someone told me it could be the oxygen sensor doing it.
Originally the car would stall when coming from highway speed or constant speed down to stopping at a red light. Restart the car and the check engine light would go away. Took it to a mechanic and he said the ignition coil ($500) unit. So I purchased it and the stalling has gone away, but hte light still comes on once in awhile.
I purchased a O2 sensor, just wondering if someone has a picture where it is located, tried looking in a Chilton'* manual, but the sensor and where they have it doesn't seem to be in the same spot.
cheers

Go to a different dealer for a scan. That light could mean one of over 100 different things. You need either a dealer or an OBD1 scanner with an OBD2 compatible cable in order to scan a 94 or 95.
You got ripped on the ignition fix.
Oxygen sensors rarely set SES lights, but they do get tired. It'* in the rear exhaust manifold. Right on top. Directly between the engine and firewall, looks kinda like a 7th spark plug. You can get to it with a crescent wrench, but it'* tight. An O2 socket may help. Make sure there'* anti-sieze on the threads. If not, get some (little bit). And I hope it'* not a Bosch sensor. If so, return it and get an AC Delco ONLY.
