Im not real sure i know that the one thing with the wheel not sure what its called wont move at all. My brother said that the bearing died in it and thats what made it pop off.

You just got into a much more complicated fix than just the alternator. You have you drain the coolant to swap the bracket in since coolant runs through it.

You do not need to swap the bracket, just the pulley, itself. It is a left-hand thread. You just torque on that same bolt which you torque to loosen the tension. Except torque it to the RIGHT to remove the bolt, and the pulley comes off. Canadian Tire wants about $20 for the pulley alone.

Sounds like you lost your water pump first, it sprayed water and antifreeze on the belt tensioner and possibly ruined the bearing. Your alternator may or may not be bad but if you got a new one, put it on.
I am in the middle of the same project. Lost water pump, it froze and kicked the belt off. Lots of fun driving w/o power steering at the same time. I am also replacing the upper and lower intake manifold gaskets to be safe as well as cleaning the Throttle Body and a good internal cleaning of the upper and lower intake manifold on my 1992 Bonneville SE.

If it is only the uim, why did he loose the serpentine belt. I lost mine due to water pump failure for sure. Its not to say that his UIM is not failing also??? My water pump went out with a very slow leak that was really hard to see but lost fluids about a quart a week. The water pump finally froze up solid and kicked off the belt. To be sure I am changing all the gaskets, o-rings associated with intake manifold repair also.

I went ahead and just tried putting on a new bearing thing on the tensioner (sp?) and it wroked but i hear a sweaking noise when i give the car gas when im drive is it just the belt maybe?
