car stuck in park
I drove my car all day yesterday with no problems and came home. Now when I try to go somewhere today the damn car wont shift outta park. I check the 1b 20 amp fuse on the left side panel and it isnt blown but the metal prongs r kinda discolored. What can this be. I have a 94 se

I agree with Dan about the brake lights. If the brakes lights do not work, the solenoid that releases the shifter lock will also not work.

My old Lincoln did that. It was the Brake-Transaxle Shift Interlock Solenoid, as everyone said. If you need to move ur car (I wouldn't suggest driving if u have no brake lights), turn key to on position (first clikck), put ur car in neutral, apply brake, start car, and put into gear.

The interlock solenoid is probably my problem as well ['96 LeSabre]. Sometimes I can't get it out of park; sometimes I can't. Yes, I have my foot on the brake, yes, my brake lights work and yes, the key is 'on'. There'* an interlock somewhere that'* not working. Can you tell me where this interlock is and about how much a replacement costs?
