To the best of my knowledge, the oil pressure sender only powers the dash gauge; the computer doesn't monitor that parameter.

A few people with older motors have had the oil pressure needle tap on the red zone at stoplights and everything kept running.

You can start the engine with the sensor unplugged.

Thanks for all of your help. I really appreciate it. Just an update- I took the car in last week and some of the stuff was looked at, but not everything on the list [can't remember exactly what he checked]. I had a family issue that I had to take care of, that I needed the car for. The mechanic hasn't gotten to the Crank Shaft Position Sensor yet, but I will be printing this thread off and taking it to the mechanic along with the car on Thursday or Friday so he can finish the job. It sounds like you guys are on the right track with the Crank Shaft Position Sensor and or wiring, so I'm really, really hoping that'* the problem. I will update again at the end of the week when I find something out. Thanks again.

And Dan [I assume your last question was aimed at me]: My oil gauge seems to work fine. When I'm stopped, the gauge will drop down to just above the red, but as soon as I'm driving it it goes back to normal or slightly above it, but never goes dangerously high or anything. I read that this fluctuation is normal, but who knows, that could be part of the problem. Hope this answers your question.

It may move a little, but shouldn't drop that far. You may have a bad sender unit. But that will not cause the engine to stall. Had a guy here a month or so back that broke his sender off and it was just hanging there.

I'll check into that at a later date. From what I can gather, I haven't had any oil related issues with my car. My goal at this point is for the car to consistently run. lol
