I'm thinking more along the lines of MAF.... But you'd really have to watch the data stream on the scantool to have an idea of whats happening...
The TPS is used for both fuel calibration, and Load characterstics... The PCM uses the TPS to watch the amount of engine load, which is a large part of how the PCM controls the trans...
This car does sound like it has some other issues that may need to be looked at... Just not sure what they are at this point..

My car did the same thing about a month ago, but ironic as it is, this morning, while on the off-ramp , I was coasting, and when traffic cleared, I stepped on the gas, and my tranny acted as though I was in neutral, and then slipped back in gear. I can't help but think it'* related to the jumping thing we're discussing here.
Any advice would be very much appreciated. I hope I don't need a tranny, That would make me mad as heck. I can barely afford gas these days..
Sam
edit: I wanted to add that this off-ramp was a huge circle. Maybe that played a role?

Sam...my understanding of the posters problem is sitting at a stop w/foot on brake and the car surged or jumped forward. A slipping transmission would seem unrelated. Please start another thread, check tranny fluid level.

I'll check my fluid again. I think I'm probably due for a new tranny filter, so this would be a good time to get that done...
