Crawl under the car with a large screwdriver with a rubber handle. Look at the back of the starter, there are two connectors with two wires, one large one small. Use the screwdriver to carefully bridge the two. You'll see large sparks and hear a bunch of noise, you'll think you're breaking it. Don't worry, its fine just be careful not to shock yourself. If it sparks and only "clicks" then its your starter. If the car turns over come back and I'll tell you a few key places to look for grounding problems.

For a starter, you're better off just heading to the local parts store. If you have the old one out, bring it with you to save on core charge.
