Bonnieville died! Please help!
Sorry for the long post! My son was driving (97 bonneville SE) on hwy when the engine light came on. He checked the gauges & was high & moving higher. He said he was slowing down to stop & the car started running rough. He stopped & saw "steam" but he couldn't see any leaks & the resivoir was full. He called me but I was unable to answer so he sat there to let it cool off. He then strted it & it seemed to run OK so he tried to make it home. He got to within a mile of home & it overheated again. He pulled off to let it cool again. When he started it this time, it was running rough then quit. I called him & told him to leave it & we would get it later . When I got there it started then died. I found a vacuum line broke next to the thermostat housing. I repaired it & then started it. It was running a little rough but I figured if a code was set maybe it would clear after I reset them. I drove it home & right when I pulled into the garage it started to overheat. I noticed the upper radiator hose was colapsed. The hose is not more than a year old so I wasn't sure what would cause that much vacuum to colapse the hose. I put 3 qts antifreeze in. After checking various sources, I replaced the radiator cap & checked the resavoir & hose to make sure they wern't clogged. I started the car & noticed immediatly that the lower radiator hose was colapsed. I tried to remove the radiator cap but the vacuum was holding it in place. I turn the car off. I removed the cap & was going to start the car to see if the coolant was moving but it wouldn't start. There was white smoke coming from the tail pipe. When I tried again, ...click..click. Please help!!

Pull the plugs and inspect them. Want to make sure you dont have coolant in the cylinders. I'm wondering if you have a clogged water jacket. If you over heated the engine you may have cooked the rings. Does it turn over?

I hurt my back last Sunday so I couldn't work on the car till today. The engine wouldn't turn over so I removed the plugs. I took pictures but I don't no how to post them. I rotated the engine & coolant came out of the # 4 cylinder.

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Is that the only cylinder that has coolant in it?
