Belt tensioner compatibility question
Hi, I have a 1992 Bonne supercharged. I need to replace the upper belt tensioner for the sc, ac, wp.
Is there a compatible tensioner from non sc 3800? I can get parts from 3800'* locally, but I have to drive an hour for parts from a sc 3800.
Thanks in advance for any and all advice.

Instead of looking used, because you really don't know what happened to them. Check your parts stores...I think tensioners are usually reasonable.

Whew, $80 is a lot compared to $10 used. I think I will roll the dice and hope I come up lucky. I changed a tensioner on a cavalier...used worked fine. I will let you know how it turns out. If anyone has the compatibility answer I would greatly appreciate it.

The pulley itself is compatible. The entire tensioner is not. The alternators are in totally different locations, so are the PS pumps, and the belt offsets are totally wrong.
Kenn, instead of saying "Napa has them" and then posting again "part number is this", and then posting again "oh, lifetime warranty", can you try to consolidate this all into one reply?

I went to the junkyard and bought the tensioner today. I also needed a windshield washer pump. I got the tensioner for $15 and paid $10 for the entire washer fluid tank with both pumps and the level sensor.
I have the tensioner in and the pulley looks parallel to the others. I will keep an eye on the belt for premature wear.
